Don’t Call Me That

Most of the time I open my emails in the morning on my iPad and almost every week I get an email from the national Business Marketing Association (BMA), full of interesting articles and information about marketing to businesses.

You know how the address line is abbreviated for the iPad screen?  Well my emails from the BMA always start with the full name of their organization which when abbreviated is Business Marketing Ass.

So yes, it appears that they are addressing me inappropriately, which was funny the first time but not so funny after repeated emails.  As a result, they are not nurturing that warm relationship goal they have of motivating me to renew my annual membership.

Please – check your email titles and every possible abbreviation before you send them out.  Email programs are a very effective way to stay in contact with your customers and networks, and provide value.  But make sure you are buttoned up in the execution, please!
